When something goes wrong and you are feeling stressed, angry, worried, betrayed or hurt, your first instinct is to turn to food. The same happens when something goes right and you feel a need to celebrate good news.
This makes a lot of sense.
When you were little, Ice cream, chocolates or sweets were often given as a reward for good behaviour or as a consolation.
The Result : your brain is now wired in such a way that you see food as a source of comfort and reward. This lesson was so well learned that it is now deeply entrenched in your subconscious. It happens on automatic pilot without you even being aware that you are responding to whatever life throws at you – rather like an old computer program running in the background, that controls all your behaviour.
